Chapter Awards 2011 Scholarship

The Chicagoland Chapter of MHMS recently announced the winner of its annual Honor Scholarship. The award is presented each year to a student who exhibits promise with respect to embarking upon a career in supply chain management.

This year's winner is Matthew Vermeere of Moline, Illinois who is working toward a Bachelor of Business degree in Supply Chain Management at Western Illinois University. Upon achieving his degree, Matthew intends to pursue an MBA after gaining some "real-world" experience in the field.

Matthew already is gaining valuable work experience through a previous internship at Head Quarters, Joint Munitions Command, at the Rock Island Arsenal and a current internship at John Deere. In expressing his gratitude to the Chicagoland Chapter, Matthew said the internship will better allow him to focus more on his academics and career goals and less on worrying about his financial situation.
