Following are the answers to some of the commonly asked questions about achieving CAMH certification. Remember, certification requires the submission of an official application, three letters of recommendation, and payment of the $100 fee.

Q:
How do I apply for CAMH Certification?

A:
First, you must meet requirements outlined in the right column on the CAMH Certification Exam page on this web site. Next, you must fill out and fax or mail the application form, with 3 reference letters and a check for the exam fee of $100. You will receive an examination scheduling approval upon review of your application and supporting documents. The date of the next exam is yet to be announced.

Q:
  When is the application due?

A:
The date by which the application should be received by the Chicagoland Chapter of MHMS will be announced when the next exam is scheduled.

Q:
How long before I know if I passed?

A:
You will be notified of test results within 2 working weeks of the examination date via first class mail. You will be sent a certificate (suitable for framing), that authorizes you to use the CAMH designation.

Q:
  What if I don’t pass?

A:
If you fail the examination, you can retake the entire examination within one year from the date of original testing, but no sooner than 6 months following first testing. If you fail the second time, you will be required to reapply and pay an additional $100.

Q:
  Must I be recertified?

A:
One must continue to meet the requirements of the Society and it’s recertification standards in order to continue using the certification designations. This program requires recertification every 3 years to verify sustained levels of competence. Forms of recording this experience will be mailed at the time of certification to successful candidates.
